Brighton has built a strong reputation as a center for innovation, far beyond its well-known beaches and pier. Known as Silicon Beach, the city now hosts a growing cluster of advanced technology firms, especially in fields like immersive technology and digital health.

The local ecosystem benefits from two major universities, University of Sussex and University of Brighton, which produce a steady flow of skilled graduates. These institutions provide businesses with access to a highly qualified workforce. Among the companies leading this development is Enterprise Therapeutics, a drug discovery firm focused on respiratory diseases such as asthma. The company recently completed a £26 million Series B funding round, with Panakes Partners taking the lead.

In the gaming sector, Dash Games has emerged as a notable player, operating as a social mobile game platform. Founded by James Burford and Francisco Furtado, the company has raised a total of $2.49 million (£1.88 million) to date, supported by Concept Ventures and other investors.

For brands looking to create digital product sampling experiences, Sampl provides a specialized solution. Although the company has not yet secured external funding, industry analysts highlight its strong market potential as it expands.

Brighton’s transportation technology sector is also advancing, with 15Below developing automated systems for passenger communication. The company’s C+ funding round in February 2024 included contributions from LDC, and its client list now includes major airlines such as SWISS, Ryanair, and JetBlue.
